What are baru seeds?
Also referred to as baru nuts and baru almonds, baru seeds come from the primitive Legume tree known as Baruzeiro (Dipteryx alata Vogel).
Its fruits are foraged by hundreds of local South American Cerrado communities, who rely on them as a source of revenue, considering the seeds "the Cerrado's Viagra".
Each fruit has a single seed inside, which is individually extracted, their processing being labor-intensive and done with absolute care by us.
Here are some traditional techniques of baru seed extraction
Baru seeds taste like a mix between peanuts and chickpeas and are highly nutritious. Due to their unique evolutionary path, the seeds won't trigger peanut and tree nut related allergies when processed in a dedicated facility and are incredibly versatile either as a snack or an ingredient.
Baru seeds are rich in:
Protein - a great post-workout snack with a complete amino acids profile.
Mono and polyunsaturated fats - such as omega-6 and omega-3.
Antioxidants - composed of phenolic compounds or Vitamin E.
Minerals - such as magnesium, zinc, potassium, and phosphorus in levels not found in other edible seeds and nuts.
Dietary fibre - for digestive and circulatory health.
The latest studies recommend 20g per day as part of a healthy diet, and guess what, we have it :)
